Why do you need a certified copy of documents?

Given the potential risk of original documents being lost or damaged, especially when sent by mail, using certified copies is a safer option. Also, original documents may not always be readily available, making certified copies a practical alternative.
Since certified copies are issued by official authorities, they are often accepted in lieu of originals in many legal and administrative transactions.

When do you need a certified copy?

There are many reasons why you may need a certified copy of your company documents, such as:
✔ Obtaining an “Apostille” certification (to verify the authenticity of documents when used in other countries).
✔ Register your company activity in another state, where you may be required to provide a certified copy of official documents such as the “Article of Incorporation” to complete the registration procedures.

What is an "Apostille"?

An apostille is a certificate of authentication of official documents when submitted to other countries, in accordance with an international agreement to facilitate the authentication of documents between countries participating in the agreement.

What is the difference between a certified copy and a notarized copy?

🔹 Certified copy: Issued by an official government agency, such as the state secretary's office.
🔹 Notarized copy: A photocopy of an original document, verified by a notary public.
⚠ Notarized copies (not officially certified) are usually not accepted for important legal procedures, such as apostille or business registration.

How long does it take to get it? The application is submitted within 15 days. The documents arrive after about 20 additional days in Wyoming.
